The Moths of India is a large consortium of amateur and professional naturalists and research scientists. The data on this website are contributed by hundreds of contributors, whose moth images and other contributions to this national moth database should be acknowledged, if not celebrated. If you are using any substantial data from this website, please add "The Moths of India Consortium" as an author and give a link to this page, where all contributors are listed. Several ecological phenomena occur in nature where moths and plants are closely linked, leading to interesting behaviours demonstrated by adult moths and early stages alike. To name a few: pollination, host plant preferences, sequestration of toxic compounds etc.

All the observations submitted to this website are peer reviewed by subject experts before they appear on the website. Peer review takes time but it also ensures that all the information available on the website is reasonably reliable and research quality.
