CONTRIBUTOR AWARDS

The Biodiversity Atlas – India Project gives out the following awards to its contributors:
 

Biodiversity Atlas: An award that honours long-term contributions to the natural history websites of the Biodiversity Atlas – India Project, and an outstanding service to the biodiversity community in India. This award is given to people who have done remarkable heavy-lifting of developing the website content.
 

Contributor of the Year: An award given out to the person who has contributed the largest number of images or spot records to each of the websites in a given year.


Contributor of the Month: An award for the most number of spot records in a month (qualify with a minimum of 100 images or 500 data points).

2019 CONTRIBUTOR AWARDS FOR BUTTERFLIES OF INDIA WEBSITE:

Biodiversity Atlas 2019: The Biodiversity Atlas 2019 award was given out to Dipendra Nath Basu and Nitin R. for their scientific contributions to the fields of taxonomy and plant-insect associations, which have also enriched the knowledge base on the Butterflies of India website, especially the species pages on Pierrots (Tarucus spp.) and the larval host plants of the Western Ghats butterflies. They will each receive a natural history field guide as a gift. Congratulations, Biodversity Atlas 2019 winners!

Contributor of the Year 2019: Dr. Rajesh Prabhakar Mahajan is 2019's Contributor of the Year, with 1,485 images contributed to the Butterflies of India website. Dr. Mahajan will receive a natural history field guide as a gift. Other contributors who qualified (minimum of 500 images contributed in 2019) to be considered for this award were: Rohit Girotra (797 images), Dr. Milind Bhakare (750 images), Nagraj V. (604 images), Raju Kasambe (582 images), and Fahim Khan (566). All their images, and images contributed by dozens others (total of 13,778 images in 2019), help us map the spatial and temporal patterns of occurrence of Indian butterflies. Thank you all!

2017 CONTRIBUTOR AWARDS FOR BUTTERFLIES OF INDIA WEBSITE:
 

Biodiversity Atlas 2017: shared by Dr. Saji K. (4,273 images), Dr. Milind Bhakare (2,612 images), Paresh Churi (2,118 images), and Hemant Ogale (2,098 images) for their outstanding contribution to documentation of the early stages and larval host plants of Indian butterflies. They will each receive a natural history field guide as a gift. Congratulations, Biodversity Atlas 2017 winners!


Contributor of the Year 2017: Nagraj V. is 2017's Contributor of the Year, with 388 images. He makes the Bengaluru Butterfly Club proud! Nagraj will receive a copy of the new Butterflies of Uttarakhand book as a gift. His contribution beat that of Rohit Girotra (324 images), Dattaprasad Sawant (279 images), Arun Lal (215 images), Tushar Bhagwat (214 images), and Firos A. K. (212 images). However, all their images help us map the spatial and temporal patterns of occurrence of Indian butterflies.
