Taxonomic Information
Anania Hübner, [1823] species known from India (based on Singh et al 2022).
Anania verbascalis ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) (Pyralis). India: West Bengal, Uttarakhand, S. India ; Nepal.
Anania profusalis (Warren, 1896) (Opsibotys). India: Meghalaya (TL: Khasi Hills).
Anania pulverulenta (Warren, 1892: 393) (Ebulea). India: Himachal Pradesh (TL: Dharmsala).
Note: Anania verbascalis (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) shows significant individual variation with the post-medial line is smoothly curve in some individuals, while it is angled and sinuous in others. Moreover, the postmedial line to inner margin is straight in some individuals, but sinuous in others. The individual from Dehradun (Media pps073) represents the latter and is provisionally identified as Anania verbascalis.
