Similar species: Achaea serva (Fabricius, 1775).
Achaea mercatoria (Fabricius, 1775) is smaller, has the forewing apex more falcate, and has a complete white band on hindwing, that is more or less uniform in width. Achaea serva has the white band on hindwing broken, and broader in width anteriorly.
Size of A. serva: Male: 70-82 mm, Female: 62-80 mm.
Size of A. mercatoria: Male: 58-68 mm, Female: 56-62 mm.
