Taxonomic Information
Macotasa Moore, 1878 species known from India (Singh et al 2021).
Macotasa nubecula (Moore, 1879). India: Andamans, Himalayas, South India
Macotasa tortricula Singh & Kirti, 2016. India: Karnataka.
Macohasa orientalis (Hampson, 1905). India: Karnataka, Meghalaya.
Macotasa tortricoides (Walker, 1862). Indian records of this species are in error, and it is extralimital to India (Singh et al 2021).
The above species display sexual dimorphism, and examining genitalia is required to ascertain species identities with certainty.

Macotasa nubecula (Moore, 1879) and Macotasa tortricula Singh & Kirti, 2016 are both known from S. India and are best separated by examining male genitalia; hence the S. Indian records of Macotasa nubecula on this website are provisionally identified.
