Notes: The genus, Cheromettia Moore, 1883, is sexually dimorphic, with males being largely dark chestnut or dark brown. Females are largely chestnut brown. Antennae of male is 1/3 bipectinnate; antennae of female is ciliate. The members of this genus are best separated by examining specimens and/or genitalia. The shape, colour and marking of the hindwings provide clues to their identity. Both sexes of Cheromettia apicata (Moore, 1879) and Cheromettia ferruginea (Moore, 1877) are doubtfully separated by examining photographs.
